My Review of the Golden Peak Hotel in Cebu City

This was one of the first hotels I stayed at in Cebu City many years ago. Since then there has had a lot of new hotels that have been built in this area. This location close to Ayala Shopping Mall has become a popular area to stay in Cebu. With the likes of the Quest Hotel, Harolds Hotel, WellCome Hotel, Red Planet and Mandarin Plaza Hotel opening within the last 5 years or so. Golden Peak Hotel has been left behind by these modern hotels. The rooms look pretty much how they did when I first stayed with the exception of the LCD TV. Now they just look aged and tired looking. If that is not an issue, the rooms are an OK standard and they do offer fairly decent value. The higher floors giving some great views of Cebu City. It’s restaurant/cafe offers average food and with some room rates (depending on who you book it through) may offer breakfast with the room rate. Again the breakfast is fairly average. The location of the hotel is great (although on a busy intersection). It’s easy to catch a taxi and as mentioned before you can walk to Ayala Shopping Mall. Here you can catch find many restaurants with all types of cuisines in its lovely “Terraces” area. There are plenty of cafes, other specialty shops, department store, supermarket and places to change money.

Overall for the price, Golden Peak Hotel is OK. It is aging but still provides reasonable value for accommodation in Cebu in a great location. I would rate it as average.
